This fun and lively evening celebrates the achievements of women within the Art world and asks the question: How can we increase momentum in addressing barriers to equality within the arts?

Our three established creative panellists introduce us to their female art heroes and share their thoughts on addressing existing equality issues within the art world. There will be plenty of time for questions and open discussion. Light refreshments will be served.

Panellists

Caroline Calonder - Caroline has an established art practice and an active interest in women's rights, mental health and autism. Professionally, she supports neurodivergent students in a university setting and has published articles on birth trauma and the healing properties of art practices.

Emily Jolley - Specialising in expressive abstract paintings, Emily Jolley is inspired by the natural world and concepts of connectedness and transience. Emily enjoys collaborating with like-minded people to make good things happen. Currently CEO of Cambridge Community Arts.

Gabriella Del Valle - Gabriella del Valle is a jewellery designer and maker who has been working with river for the past 8 years after attending evening classes and now teaches and sells her jewellery. She is also Chair of the Management Team of Cambridge Open Studios.

International Womens Day is celebrated world wide, the theme of IWD 2025 is “Accelerating Action” focusing on the importance of increasing the momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases women face in both personal and professional arenas.

According to data published by the World Economic Forum, it could take 134 years, which is approximately 5 generations, to reach full gender parity (IWD 2025)
